Abolitionist Faith Community
Think of what would happen if churches, synagogues, temples, and mosques in every community prayed and preached against slavery. Imagine the hope that would spill out into our neighborhoods and world as people of faith sang about liberation, children gave their dimes and quarters to free slaves, study groups were launched to learn more, and trips were planned to see more and do more. What would happen if we could tap into the potential of our faith communities? Those “what/ifs” reveal the potential of what the Abolitionist Faith Community could be. The resources are unlimited. The energy is palpable. The results would be – will be – amazing.
It’s important to note that it is not the Abolitionist Faith Communities – plural. No. It is singular. We are one community, working together despite differences, to stand against the evil of modern slavery. Slavery affects us all. Therefore, all of us work together to stop the evil.
The Abolitionist Faith Community is dynamic. We bring ideas, dreams, resources, and questions to this platform. What ideas do you have?
The Abolitionist Faith Community is organic. We are recreating what it means to be the abolitionist faith community. There are many new resources to create, many new dialogues to have, many new alliances to form. What do you bring?
The Abolitionist Faith Community is “open-source”. This means that we all share freely with each other, using each other’s ideas, tools, and resources. What do you wish to share with others? What are your needs?
Let’s begin the conversation.
Let’s work together.
Let’s make a difference.
